The compact has a second layer under the powder wich holds a sponge and built in mirror so you can touch up on the go.Below is a Picture of me before I applied the bb powder, I have on the loreal lumi magique foundation, as you can see there is a bit of shine on my face.
Left heavy swatch and right (you can't really see) is a swatch blended in a little, I could have blended it a bit more but it would then be invisible.

I agree with the 5 claims so far although I can't really say it lasts 8 hours because iv only had it on my face about 5 hours so far but it's still holding up and even if it doesn't last 8 hours it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me because I would just carry it with me and touch up with the sponge if needed. my face looks a bit paler after applying the powder but I think that's the only negative, and I would usually apply my bronzer and blush after the powder anyway.
